Snowsport Forum to launch Give Snow a Go campaign
[07 Sep 2006]
The Snowsport Forum is to launch a campaign encouraging Brits off the sunbed and on to the ski slope this winter.
As the theme of this year's National Ski & Snowboard Week, running from November 12th to the 18th, the campaign will be supported by a snowball email sent across the UK ski industry to encourage airlines, ski equipment suppliers, tour operators, dry ski slopes and associated companies to join in the campaign.
Europe Travel News quoted Caroline Stuart-Taylor, chief executive of the Ski Club of Great Britain and chairman of the Snowsport Forum, saying: "Skiing was once only enjoyed by a select few. In the past ten years, the growth of no frills flying, the accessibility of new destinations and the drop in real terms of the cost a ski holiday, as well as the growth in snowboarding and resurgence of skiing, has opened up the opportunity of a winter sports holiday to many more British holidaymakers.
"We want many more Brits to discover this alternate and healthy way to holiday and join the rest of Europe and America out on the slopes."
Events and promotions will include opportunities to win ski holidays, après ski parties, ski holiday offers and discounts for lessons on artificial snow slopes.
Ms Stuart-Taylor added: "It's time for the Brits to shake off their taboos, put on their skis and boards, give snow a go and join in the fun."
